Art enthusiasts are set to fill the streets of Sydney with excitement because, much like Santa Claus, the legendary Banksy art exhibition is making its way to town.
Whenever I hear the name Banksy, it takes me back to my Tumblr days filled with nostalgia — even though the British street artist, renowned for the impactful messages within his works, was a significant inspiration for my Year 12 art project.
Now, I have the chance to revisit those memorable days — alongside a myriad of art lovers — through his upcoming exhibition, The Art Of Banksy: Without Limits.
Starting from January 24, 2024, admirers of the provocative artist — famous for pieces like Balloon Girl, Kissing Coppers, and Show Me the Monet — can head to Sydney Town Hall to see his art up close and personal.
The Art Of Banksy: Without Limits exhibition will showcase over 150 pieces of the street artist’s creations, including numerous originals, prints, photographs, lithographs, sculptures, murals, and video mapping installations crafted for this tour.

Throughout the exhibit, fans of the divisive artist can delve deeply into Banksy’s world, exploring the vision behind his creations, understanding his life, and celebrating the iconic works.
Some of the most significant pieces included in the exhibition feature an installation from the captivating Dismaland from 2015, prints of Flower Thrower and Kissing Coppers, and the Photo Booth sculpture.

The exhibition also features interactive elements, including a surprise “infinity room” — addressing political themes — and the chance to spray paint your own T-shirt with a $2 donation to the M.V. Louise Michel organisation.
According to the organisation’s website, the M.V. Louise Michel organisation and its volunteers are dedicated to challenging “the discriminatory power structures of nationalism, racism, patriarchy, and capitalism.”
Who TF is Banksy?
Banksy’s identity has always been an enormous mystery. It’s somewhat akin to the enigmas of the Bermuda Triangle or the mystery of the poo sundae at Coogee Bay Hotel.
Many people have speculated about who Banksy might be. Theories have ranged from Jamie Hewlett of Gorillaz, Thierry Guetta, to Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack.
However, back in October, rumors suggested that Banksy’s identity was disclosed through legal documents. The notorious artist is ~allegedly~ 53-year-old Robin Gunningham.
While we enjoy a good reveal, some individuals — myself included — prefer the enigma of Banksy. Ultimately, it’s the art that holds the true significance, not the artist.
Before arriving in Sydney, The Art of Banksy: Without Limits exhibition was previously showcased in Brisbane and Adelaide.
A waitlist for the Sydney tickets is now available, and the general sale of tickets will commence on Tuesday, December 19.
